Student Award

The Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association recognizes students who have demonstrated academic ability, promise of a contribution to the field of Recreation Therapy, and have worked in the Recreation Therapy field. These students will be recognized at the annual ATRA Symposium..

Qualifications:

  1. Declared major in Recreation Therapy/Therapeutic Recreation or graduate studies related to Therapeutic Recreation; and
  2. Current full-time (three or more credited courses) student enrollment in university or college, third year standing or above if enrolled in a four-year program, second year standing if enrolled in a two year program; and
  3. 3.7 overall GPA minimum or equivalent; and
  4. Volunteer/work experience in Therapeutic Recreation; and
  5. Student or professional member of ATRA.
  6. Two letters of reference (preferably one from an educator, and one from a practitioner) addressing the nominee’s potential contributions to TR.

 

ATRA Student Scholarships

The aim of these scholarships is to provide financial assistance to students pursuing training and education in the field of Therapeutic Recreation. It is also intended to increase awareness of Therapeutic Recreation as a profession to students and educators. ATRA provides two scholarships annually - one for undergraduate studies ($500.00) and one for graduate studies ($500.00).

All applications must include the following:

  1. ATRA Scholarship application form
  2. Proof of ATRA membership
  3. Transcripts
  4. Three letters of support
