ATRA sees the promise of our professional future in our Therapeutic Recreation Students

It takes a team comprised of the educational institution, the student and the students clinical preceptor to prepare an individual to enter the profession as a competent health care provider.

In recognition of this work, ATRA's Membership Award program provides two awards and one bursary.  Please take note of the different deadlines for nominations.

1.  Outstanding Student Leader Award - Application Deadline: August 31, 2019

Every year, ATRA awards a student who demonstrates leadership in school and externally, a promise of contribution to the field of Therapeutic Recreation.

2. Is your Clinical Preceptor the Best? Nominate them for the Outstanding Preceptor Award - Application Deadline: August 31, 2019

 This award recognizes a preceptor in a clinical setting who demonstrates excellence in provision of therapeutic recreation education in their workplace and values the importance of mentoring future professionals. Two awards are given, one for a College level preceptor and one for a University level preceptor.

3. ATRA Entry to Practice Bursary -  Applications accepted June 1 - September 15, annually

The Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA) supports ATRA student members in the pursuit of therapeutic recreation education for the purpose of becoming a Professional Member of ATRA. Offering a scholarship to students at the Diploma and Degree level addresses ATRA’s purpose of providing professional development, research & education opportunities and establishing and improving consistent standards for practice for Therapeutic Recreation professionals entering into practice. The aim of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to part time or full time students pursuing a Diploma or Degree that is eligible for ATRA Professional Membership. It is also intended to support Alberta based Therapeutic Recreation programs and increase awareness of Therapeutic Recreation as a profession to students and educators.
